Filling Your Hot Tub
  1. To minimize airlocks in the equipment, put hose down the center of the gray standpipe in the filter compartment.
  2. Turn hose on. This will fill the tub through the heater, pumps, and jets pushing most of the air out of the lines.
  3. Fill the spa to the top of the neck jets or just below the pillows.
  4. For 220V spas, turn on the 20 AMP breaker and run jets for 10 minutes, then confirm flow from foot-well via circulating pump. Then turn on the 30 AMP breaker and continue to run jets for 10 minutes.
For 110V spas, plug in and immediately turn on jets for 10 minutes.
Either way, turn the diverter handle (if applicable) once 360 degrees (Vista, Envoy, Siberian, and Caspian HP models – turn on the 30 AMP first, then the 20 AMP).
  5. Follow chemical start-up instructions on reverse side.
  6. Spas on 220V take 8-12 hours on average to heat up.
  7. Spas on 110V take 24-36 hours on average to heat up.

Blinking Red Light After Start Up

  1. The blinking red light indicates a tripped high limit thermistor. Did you remember to put the hose down the center of the gray standpipe? If not, the circulating pump may have an airlock and flow was not established through the heater. Shut off both breakers for one minutes and repeat step 4 from “Filling Your Hot Tub”. If the light stops blinking the problem has been corrected. Resetting of the mechanical high limit may also be necessary on certain models (refer to owner’s manual).

Blinking Red Light

  1. Make sure there is no foreign debris in the spa, pull filters out and replace caps. Turn the power to the spa off for one minute, then repeat step 4 from “Filling Your Hot Tub”.
  2. If red light stops blinking, the problem has been corrected. Clean filter(s).
  3. If red light is still blinking, call (815) 459 - 0660 for service.

Spa is Not Heating
Note: The hot tub will stop heating due to low flow through the heater in order to keep the heater from being damaged.

  1. Check your filters and clean them if necessary.
  2. Some heaters have a reset button, refer to your owner’s manual for location and other tips.

Note: It is best to remove filters from the spa before resetting the heater/GFCI because dirty filters may be restricting the flow and causing the problem. Service calls that are the result of dirty or clogged filters are NOT covered under warranty. The filter on the gray standpipe filters 24/7, and is usually the cause.

Blinking Green Light

  1. Turn power to spa off for 1 minute. Then turn power back on per start-up instructions based on your spa being 110V or 220V.
  2. If light continues to blink, call (815) 459 – 0660 for service.

Blinking Red and Green Light (2004 to current HotSpring models)

  1. Indicates low water flow. Follow the procedures for Blinking Red Light.

Draining Your Spa

  1. Turn the power to the spa off by turning breakers off or unplug from the wall.
  2. Locate the drain on the front, base of spa near the equipment area. See Owner’s Manual if assistance is needed.
  3. Attach garden hose (if desired) and drain.
  4. Close drain and replace cap.
  5. Refer to filling procedures.
  6. If winterizing spa, follow detailed steps in owner’s manual and contact Arvidson’s or Fox Valley Pools and Spas for assistance at (815) 459 - 0660. Damage caused to your spa by improper winterizing is Not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Misc. Tips:
Breakers / GFCI Tripping: If Breakers or GFCI is continuously tripping, call (815) 459 – 0660 for Service.
Filters: Rinse filters every 3-4 weeks or as needed. Spray or soak with recommended filter cleaner every 4-8 weeks. Tri-X filters can be washed in the dishwasher without soap and without the dry cycle and without Jet Dry.
Cover Care: Condition cover monthly according to owner’s manual. If cover gets heavy, it will need to be replaced as it will become less energy efficient. Heavy cover may cause damage to cover assist and/or skirting. Always remove snow / ice from cover before opening or damage may result. Do not use a metal snow shovel.
Skirting: Clean as needed according to owner’s manual.
Rodents: If your spa is going to be placed in an area known to be frequented by mice, rats, or other nocturnal creatures, the manufacturer recommends covering the access opening to the spa’s equipment compartment with a heavy gauge screen material. This screening is standard equipment on all 2004 - current HotSpring and TigerRiver models. Rodent damage is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
