Ways to Combat the Chlorine Shortage

Although chlorine shortages have impacted availability of certain products, there are still many things you can do to help your pool stay clean and clear this summer. Use our free water testing service to regularly test your water and get ahead of any problems before they get started. Plan ahead. Give yourself plenty of time before the day of the party to get your water balanced.

Increase your usage of algaecide and other water conditioners such as Optimizer Plus (20% off in-stores) to fend off algae blooms and help your chlorine go farther.  Check out this video from BioGuard water guru, Alicia Stephens, about how to make your chlorine go further.

We created this article about how to maintain your pool for peak performance. It is filled with great suggestions for managing the chlorine shortage and keeping your pool at optimal performance levels all season long.

Help Your Guests Refresh and Rejuvenate

Fun summer drinks are especially popular on hot summer days.

Why not set up an Arnold Palmer bar with different flavors of lemonades and teas.  Provide lots of ice, lemon wedges, cut up fruit and mint leaves to garnish.

Turn the Music Up!

Celebrate with your favorite tunes!  Make a playlist  with all your favorite summer jams to avoid commercials interrupting the flow and the dancing.

Keep the Water Outside, Not Inside

Create a dry-off area outside the entrance to your home so that guests aren’t bringing water in thus creating slippery floors.

Then, have lots of big, beach towels on hand.  You can also put benches and hooks right outside your door and make signs that remind guests to dry off before entering the house.

pool floats

Pool Floats and Toys are a Must!

Make sure you have plenty of options for fun in the sun and easy-going relaxing.  If you are running low or have some tired-looking pool noodles, stop into Arvidson and check out our new pool toys!

firepit smores

C’mon Baby, Light My Fire

From day to night, have your fire pit ready. This way you can create the ambiance and peace that comes from a crackling fire.

Plan ahead for the ever-popular S’more making with plenty of sticks or S’more forks to go around.  Make it extra special with a variety of different chocolate options including Reese’s Cups, Cookies n Cream, dark chocolate and the traditional milk chocolate.  Your guests will love trying new creative twists on this American taste sensation.
